A Poet’s Moon, by Jacquée Thomas, is a paranormal romance set in 1870s small town Ohio.
Elissa Johnson is a daughter of a maid. She aspires to travel. Her mother, and the wealthy household mistress, reprove Elissa’s ambition. Elissa rebels, and ends up painfully disappointed.
When Elissa is convinced her world will remain dark and small, a young man named Paul appears in her room and takes her traveling. He prompts her to close her eyes, and she opens them to places in England, Wales and France. He makes use of time zones and brings her home before her absence is noticed. Elissa cannot help but talk about her adventures. People think she is delusive. After Paul leaves her, Elissa also questions her sanity. Had she imagined him all along?
